The game was released in order to compensate for the delayed release of Resident Evil 2. The broken shotgun is used to replace the normal shotgun on the wall. If Chris didn’t replace it, he would’ve died in the next room thanks to the ceiling coming down on him. If Jill didn’t replace it, Barry would’ve come to her rescue.
All in all, it’s so that the ceiling doesn’t come down on the player (especially Chris, who won’t be saved). Phew…hope that helps.

I was like that too when I watched my brother play this game. Lucky for me, I got over the RE fear and played RE Zero, and now can beat it in one day without a memory card! I had lots of close calls, but I made it, all the same. (Zero seemed easy to me now, though…RE5 was a challenge at the end).
Just watching this makes me wanna go and look for the original, and play it for myself…I miss the cheesy lines and crappy animation…it’s what started RE after all! xD

In RE5? They created an auto-save option for the game, since it’s on the 360 and PS3. So after you complete part of a chapter, the game will save…
Any items you collect will also save, and when you start that level back up, you can sell/buy new things…that’s how I got lots of money in RE5 (which that is a new feature in the RE series, which was kinda strange, but…it helps the players).

@Chris12Redfield when jill almost becomes a jill sandwich lol. if you get the broken shotgun before going to get the shotgun. you replace the broken shotgun with the good shotgun and then the ceiling doesn’t come down. and jill sandwich scene doesnt happen : (

I love how Jonghyun is probably the second biggest troll is SHINee (cos no one beats Onew) he comes off as manly and romantic but he is so emotional that he breaks down when he’s in situations like this one. I knew there was a reason for my being such a Blinger. SHINee and Jjong hwaiting!
